Harry Mark brought much honor to Iloilo, his hometown, when he was awarded Grand Prize Winner in the 2007 Metrobank Art And Design for Excellence National Competition in Sculpture. He has come a long way from his humble beginnings. The son of a construction foreman, it was while helping his father on a house repair job that he was exposed to the sculptures of the homeowner, artist Ed Defensor. Sensing the boys interest, Defensor hired him as apprentice. He was only 14 years old but his early exposure to art encouraged him to become an artist.
